I Love Competition!

I complain a lot that all the good ones are taken, but I'm beginning to realize that's not the case at all.  There are still a lot of good guys out there . . . unfortunately I still haven't met one who has the total package of qualities I'm looking for.  (Generally it's the faith piece that's not connecting.)  Mr. South Carolina is a great example of one of the "good ones" who's gotta be right for someone.  I commented as he walked me to my car that I want to start a matchmaking service for all these guys I'm dating around the country, because they're great . . . just not necessarily right for me.

I met Mr. South Carolina at Frankie's Fun Park in Columbia.  We started out at the batting cages and he went first . . . I was a little intimidated after watching him nail hit after hit.  I haven't swung a bat in years.  I did pretty well, though.  I only completely missed a couple of pitches, and I had some good hits, if I do say so myself.  We went next to the super fast race track -- you have to be 16 and have a driver's license to race these carts, so I maybe should have been a little more careful . . . I spun out on my first curve.  Luckily we were the only two on the race course and he was able to maneuver around me.  He beat me -- boo --  but I was having a lot of fun because I'm slightly competitive.  Okay, really competitive.  Competing in anything is my idea of a good time, so this date was right up my alley, even if I didn't win.  I did better on the regular go-carts, but he still beat me.

There was a giant arcade inside and we played a trivia game.  I seem to have endless brain space for useless knowledge, so I beat him in this.

"How did you know that?" he asked after one question.

"'Cause I'm brilliant," I said dryly.

"Modest, too," he said.  Yep, that's me.

He beat me in basketball and laser tag; I beat him in mini-golf and guitar hero.  We both sucked at Dance Dance Revolution.  It was a ton of fun!  It was the kind of date I've always thought would be a blast but have been stuck in the dinner and a movie rut instead.  I'm sure it's not everyone's cup of tea, but it fit my personality fabulously.  And we had time to talk, too, while we waited in lines or wandered the golf course, so it was a good way to get to know each other.  Solid date.  Now I need to work on my matchmaking service . . .
